Nuts/seeds in the diet

Hi BBM crew,

I saw in a forum post called “growing healthily” that jordan recommended eating 1-2 servings of nuts a day.

I haven’t seen this recommendation anywhere else in the main BBM nutrition advice so I’m wondering if jordan still stands by this?

And would this recommendation extend to eating 1-2 servings of flax/chia seeds as well for omega 3’s or just to nuts?

As far as specific foods go, yes, nuts are generally health-promoting . I would not specifically recommend chia, flax, or anything else pertaining to omega-3 fatty acid intake. There are also many ways to eat a health promoting dietary pattern, many that do not contain nuts.

The thread for context: Growing Healthily - Nutrition Q/A with Dr. Jordan Feigenbaum - Barbell Medicine Forum

And the quote:

Health promoting
-6-7 servings of fruits and vegetables per day
-30-35g fiber per day from whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, etc.
-1-2 servings of nuts per day
