Dear Dr. Feigenbaum and Dr. Baraki,

Do you advocate this approach regarding form or do you recommend other sources? Thus far, I’ve only been doing power cleans with higher hips style, and it feels a lot more natural to me than the “hips-low” style that Olympic athletes advocate. Do you think I would benefit from doing cleans with the hips lower? If yes, could you please direct me to some form videos that you deem beneficial?

Eddie,
I deleted your previous comment and edited this one in order to limit the drama.
To be clear, it doesn’t matter how you do your power cleans, as it’s not like one has a particularly more robust training effect than the other. Additionally, not all Olympic lifters and coaches do not necessarily advocate for a “low-hips” approach, though some certainly do.
I cannot say whether you should change your lifting technique without seeing it and having some familiarity with your progress, though I suspect what you’re doing right now is adequate for the intended purpose.

Dear Dr. Feigenbaum,
Please excuse my previous post. I had no intention of making waves between you and the aforementioned company. It’s just that I’ve been comparing Clarence Kennedy’s instructional videos and a certain company’s instructional, and I found them vastly different. I found the latter easier to understand apply, but it just seemed that most avid weightlifters on YT do not prefer the higher hips variation. Again, I apologize for referring to the company’s name. It won’t happen again.
Kind Regards,
Eddie Mun
