On the ideal meal frequency

Hey Jordan! First of all thank you for all the free content that you give out!

I’ve read "7 Rules of optimizing protein"and “To be a Beast” articles, which typically recommends 3-5 hours between meals to maximize mps and it’s refractory period. But I think I’ve heard on one of your podcasts or livestreams that you wouldn’t wait 3 hours since it’s still too little time between the meals. My question would be if the ideal time would be 4 - 5 hours really and how much would be the maximum time that you would allow between meals to stay in the ok range (implying that 5 hours max would be ideal).

I ask you this because my 3rd and 4th meal are 6 hours apart typically. Normally I leave the gym at 5 PM and half an hour later I eat 2 pb sandwiches (brown bread) with a 300ml of milk and 30g of whey and a banana (so I get plenty of food in my stomach), then until I’m home again its 11 30 PM or so then I have dinner. My first two meals are at 9 30 AM and 1 30 PM typically.

Sorry for the long post, but thanks!

Hey Bobby,

Thanks for joining us here and the post

I 100% didn’t say this. 3 hours is fine.

The ideal time is 3-5 hours.

This is the quote I was talking about:
“It is unlikely that eating another meal 2-3 hours after the first meal would be sufficient to increase protein synthesis again, since amino acid levels are already elevated. Therefore, in order to avoid refractoriness and maximize anabolism, it may be best to consume larger doses of protein to maximize protein synthesis, while allowing enough time (4-6 hours) for amino acid levels to fall between meals, in order to resensitize the system.”

This means that this quote is not entirely true?

No. It means wait 3 hours or more.
