Pain in right biceps about midway down the muscle

Hey all. Hoping to get some advice. I’m 46, 6’2", 215 lbs and been lifting off an on most of my adult life. Started lifting with added zeal about 6 months ago and progressing nicely. About a month ago I was in the yard sort of ripping some plastic to throw away and it gave way and my right arm quickly snapped stratight. I had an immediate soreness in my biceps and especially on the inside of my forearm near my elbow that has persisted. It seems to hurt most when my arm is fully “closed” in a curl so that the forearm touches my biceps. I’ve been lifting light and paying close attention to it. Have an ortho consult in two weeks but wanted to solicit some opinions. Tendon strain/tear?

Jpacrox,

Thanks for joining the forum and for the post. Welcome!

The mechanism you describe makes me concerned for distal biceps tendon injury or common flexor tendon issue, but it’s hard to tell from here without more information and testing.

This is something we can weigh-in on more thoroughly via consultation since we can talk about it live. Shoot us an email at support@barbellmedicine.com if interested.
