Hi guys,
I have a question about the intensity on isolationist work. I know that, unlike main lifts, the fatigue cost is much lower and this can allow us to push closer or to failure. Since failure means the non-ability of the muscle to produce force, does it make sense to add some partial reps on exercises that allow them (cables, leg extension) to actually stimulate the muscle completely and not limit the concept of failure to full range of motion?
I think this can make a difference from a training volume perspective and maybe give a little extra growth potential in short phases. I include something like this in Bodybuilding II, for example. I wouldn’t do it year round and I don’t think it makes a huge difference. It might be useful in short stints though.
