Paused deadlifts instead of RDL in PB1

Hi,

In PB1, would it be ok to substitute RDL’s on day 1 with paused deadlifts? Would the rep rage be the same or would you advise sets of 5 for the pauses deadlifts?

You could do this and if so, I would keep the programming the same rep, RPE, and set-wise.

I want to concentrate on increasing my deadlift so thought maybe paused deadlifts would be better fitted than RDL’s or would you recommend an alternative exercise?

I would do RDL’s for the first block over paused deadlifts. I think you’ll be surprised how well RDL’s work for improving deadlift strength in this context (e.g. block I). Be sure and do them similarly to your deadlifts form-wise and use straps.

“similarly to your deadlifts” meaning letting the knees come forward in the lower part of the descent vs just moving the hip back and keeping the knees where they are throughout the rep?

Yes. RDL’s aren’t stiff legged deadlifts, ya know?

RDLs are deadlifts on silent mode.
