Question Regarding RPE

Hey Guys-

Currently running the Hypertrophy 2 template and really enjoying it. I found myself however having inconsistency with RPE/fatigue levels during my workouts. My question is during training when the template calls for 8 reps @9 and i find myself hitting 7 reps @9, is it worth worrying about grinding out the extra repetition or staying within the specified RPE level by missing the last rep. If this isn’t happening too frequently, is it worth worrying about? Thanks.

I would finish the set and adjust subsequent loads as needed. And if it isn’t happening too frequently, it’s not worth worrying about.

Hi BBM team I also have a RPE question as I’m new to using it I’ve noticed when the prescribed RPE is for example a 8 I truly could only get 2 more but I’ve noticed in your training logs on YouTube what you call a RPE 8 does not look like it truly represent a true RPE 8 unless your on about technically perfect form 8 ? As I’m doing a RPE on some exercises but feeling like I’m moving slowly or a bit shaky even though I’m training off a true 1RM or is it maybe that I still am adapting to the level of volume ?

I’m not sure what you’re asking here. RPE 8 typically means having about 2 reps left in the tank. This is subjective and individual to the lifter. I cannot tell you what your RPE 8 set is based on viewing a set and vice versa, as we have a tough time removing bias (from our own experiences) when ascribing RPE to another lifter’s work.
