I just downloaded the 7 week endurance template and was wondering if RPE can be equated to a target heart rate range for conditioning? For me at least this would be easier than trying to gauge effort level during conditioning sessions. Or is it more nuanced?

RPE actually started out as a proxy for HR when using the 6-20 scale. A value of 10, for example, would be ~100bpm, whereas a value of 15 would be ~150bpm.
In any event, I don’t think heart rate values accurately encapsulate the effort level of a task and so I’d use RPE, not HR.

Thanks Jordan. So, gauge effort by how hard it is to speak, etc.?
That is one way to do it, though again I wouldn’t try to use just one factor to gauge effort. Rather, “How hard am I working right now compared to how hard I could go” would be what I recommend.
