Red Meat and Cancer?

Hi, just stumbled accross this forum and its great, thanks for all the free advice.

I’m getting a bit paranoid about red and processed meat. I keep hearing warnings in the media that it can cause cancer but I don’t know how accurate this is and how much the risk increase is.

I try reading the articles and sources but it gets pretty confusing and there seems to be a lot of contradictory advice out there.

As I understand it, the claims are that all red meat increases risk of cancer and that processed meat (by processed I think they mean preserved with nitrite such as bacon and ham) has a higher risk of cancer.

I love eat red meat and as I understand it, it is very good for strength and size gains. So I would love to keep it in my diet but not sure sure how healthy it is?

Fat Harry White,

Hey there.

So- red meat and processed meats aren’t the same. They are different. I think that there are many behaviors and socioeconomic factors that those who consume lots of processed meat get exposed to that those who don’t, don’t.

Red meat isn’t any better for strength or size than other animal protein sources, but your health is multifactorial, Fat.
