Sciatica-type symptoms- Low back template?

Unfortunately not in the position for a 1-2-1 pain consult right now so wondering if the low back template (LBT) is generally recommended for sciatica-type symptoms?

My pain goes from my right butt-cheek down to mid-calf. I’ve been experiencing this to some degree of intensity since 12/2018. My mobility has ranged from experiencing pain even when lying flat in bed (to sleep, not bed rest) to feeling 100% and only slight pain when squatting. Unfortunately pain is back on the increase which has brought me here. The recent bout has also brought with it sporadic tingling sensation in and around the toes on my right foot, I still have full function.

Pain typically disappears when exercising after a few warm up sets and I can usually complete my lifts pain free. I also play soccer 1/2 x per week with a slightly uncomfortable warm up and then a pain-free game. It’s usually only an hour or more only after stopping that pain seems to kick in. It seems that if I stay “warmed up” the pain does not occur, whether it’s a 30 minute kick-about in the park or a 90 minute game, symptoms are almost non-existent until I stop.

I’ve watched every single YouTube video you guys have put out and it has definitely helped to manage my internal state when experiencing pain, and also my beliefs about this pain and the future. Although, I still find myself wanting to know the cause and I understand this is probably impossible but also pointless. I still have some concerns about anterior pelvic tilt for which I have tried various stretches and stopped after the pain did not approve after a few weeks. I perceive the right side of my body to be muscularly weaker than the left. I’ve also been physically examined in the past by a physio and was told my glute med was ‘not firing’.

Just last week I bought the Hypertrophy I template but unsure whether I’ll be better of also purchasing LBT and running that first. I’ll also be looking to drop some fat due to a 38’ waist circumference.

If you need any more info please just ask and thank you very much in advance for any and all help!

Many thanks!

Yes, that template would be a reasonable place to start. With that said, given the duration and description of your experience, a consult would be advisable here. You could consider the LBP Rehab Bundle, which includes a consultation with one of our rehab coaches and programming.
