Sharp decline in performance

Hello! So, over the past few months I’ve had a sharp decline in performance, motivation, and well being. I thought this would be a short lived slump but has persisted for the past few months. For reference, I pulled 565 at 180 bw 4 months ago and today 365 x 5 felt like a school bus. Finally, my question, do you think I should get a medical w/u for this fatigue and strength loss since it’s so acute? I’m also hurting everywhere when I lift ie bilateral shoulder and hips when training even during warm ups. I have never experienced anything like this before and it’s majorly affecting my life so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe the Drs will be able to answer such a question, but likely they will say it’s not something they can address via the internets, and see your own Dr.

I don’t know what a Dr. will do for you, but sure, you could go see him.

What else is going on in your life and what has your training looked like in the past 6 months or so?

Dave,

Are you honestly suggesting that he NOT go see a Doctor?! He clearly, needs a check-up at the least. I don’t know why you would advocating for him to NOT go see a doctor!!! He could have a variety of issues, from bacteria to menegitis to mono.

Go see a doctor.

Can you give more data about how precipitous the decline was? You give a reference point 4 months ago then 0 days ago but what happened during the intervening time? I would personally be more worried the more rapid the decline was and depending other factors like if my weight had experienced a significant drop as well. I do think more info around your recent life stressors would be potentially useful. That being said, I don’t think it would be bad to see your doctor and see if you have any red flags for something significant.
