Hi Dr. I recently had a few flare ups in my groin area where I have one replacement labrum and one repaired labrum. It’s been 6 months with no improvements, everyday I just use a heating pad or tens unit to help with relief. The pain is the kind where you wish you didn’t exist anymore type of pain. I believe I re injured them doing step back lunges. Before I did lunges I could easily do moderate weight SSB squats with up to 300 pounds max. The squats were pain free also. I’m not sure if it’s the labrum’s torn or scar tissue from the surgeries causing the pain. I recently heard of shockwave therapy and maybe thought it could help. Have you heard of this and if so is it worth a try?
Hey, thanks for the questions. Sorry to hear about your situation. It’s tough to give individual advice without a consultation. Broadly speaking, I do not typically recommend shockwave therapy. Check out this article for general guidance: Pain in Training: What To Do?
