Sodium bicarbonate as pre workout???

Hey strong folks,

I’ve bumped into this idea that sodium bicarbonate can be used as pre workout, approximately 200-400 mg per KG of body weight.
It is supposed to be the same as beta aniline, only cheaper and it is perceived as “old school” way of boosting energy - increasing endurance with workouts (sets) that last only one minute or more.

Eh, it doesn’t work the same way that beta alanine does and this has been around for a long time. That said, the problem is getting the dosing right because when you don’t- really gnarly GI side effects (vomiting and diarrhea) occur. Additionally, there’s probably no benefit for resistance training either.

I don’t think the benefits are > the risks here.
