Yeah, i mean grams w/ regard to macros, and total calories as well.
Weighing and tracking itself didn’t really take any fine tuning… but finding the foods that worked well with my tastes and macros did take some fine tuning. Along with finding the best ways to accommodate eating them in my life. At first it was a little tedious just because MyFitnessPal needs some data populated into your recent/frequent foods so it becomes much quicker to add things. At first it took me a long time to get everything entered and tracked. Now almost everything i eat is already in my database so it’s very quick and easy to track my food.
I always have my kitchen scale, scratch pad, and a measuring cup where i prepare my food, so i can quickly take note of how much of everything i’m going to eat. It’s also nice because eventually you find your groove w/ the amounts of food and you start to find your common averages like “1/2c this veggie, 1/2c that veggie, 8oz of that meat, 1c of rice, 1 orange”. In those cases i just use my measuring cup to scoop out all my sides and toss the meat serving on the scale to get roughly close to my desired ounces then i go eat. After dinner when kids are playing i use my phone to jot in those numbers. If it’s something hard to remember like a bunch of different gram/ounce measurements i’ll just jot them on the scratch pad for later. If i’m really unsure of my macro status for the day or i’m still hungry after the meal i’ll enter them right then so i can find out if i have room to eat more food lol.
