Sumatriptan and Training?

Hello,
I have a quick medical/training related question about my wife. She is currently doing SSLP and also suffers from migraine headaches. When she has a migraine, she has been prescribed Sumatriptan for relief. Our question is, is it advisable to resistance train after taking Sumatriptan? I believe it works by adjusting blood vessels in the brain, which seems like it could impact training in some way. Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Sumatriptan is a short-acting medication that causes constriction of the blood vessels thought to contribute to migraine headaches. It may slightly impair exercise performance, but as I said it’s a fairly short-acting medication, and I’m not aware of any other substantial risks associated with exercise after use.
