Suspicious Weight Gain - Amitriptyline?

Hi Gents!
I hope all is well. I have been gaining sudden weight after starting Amitriptyline - about a pound a week over the last few weeks. The amitriptyline is to treat insomnia and it is doing an excellent job at that. I thought I would lose weight due to me eating at night EVERY night (several times) for many years and I haven’t done this, at all, since I started the med. Some other things to note: I restarted taking Creatine consistently over the same time period (I had stopped for awhile) and I started barbell training with normal Group Programming volume (after doing At-Home programming for 6 weeks). I believe that my calories have stayed the same or decreased, my gym effort has increased and I seem to still be putting on weight - what gives? One final note - I am hitting rep range PRs and feel really strong right now. The undisturbed rest I am getting may be really helping my lifts!

I imagine that you’re on a very low dose of amitriptyline if it’s being used for insomnia, which makes it pretty unlikely to be a big driver of this issue.

I would try tracking your calorie/macro intake and perhaps tracking some body measurements including waist circumference to try to differentiate whether this is more likely to be lean body mass vs. fat mass.
