I have the Master template bundle entitled ‘BBM-Fall 2017 templates final’. I just noticed there was an update in April 2018. Was this significant? If so, what is the process of getting the latest version?

No. I have the same bundle and I picked up the 12 week strength in May to see if there were any significant changes and it is the same. Don’t know about updates/changes to the other templates.
