Training someone with a stent following diagnosis of angina

Hello docs,

I am a (fairly new) personal trainer and a new client (whom I have yet to meet, but has answered a simplified PAR-Q online for me) has mentioned they had a single stent fitted in 2018. He is also on medication to lower BP and cholesterol. Client turns 60 this year.

When I asked about the circumstances in which the stent was fitted, he replied that he was diagnosed with angina, and that a partially blocked artery was found during a subsequent diagnostic procedure. The stent was fitted at that time. Apparently no history of infarction, and he has had “no problems since.”

I am feeling a bit apprehensive - are there any considerations to keep in mind when introducing a (presumably sedentary) client with such a history to resistance training, or cardio for that matter? And is there any evidence or guidelines available on exercise training in such a context, or resources I should look at?

Thank you in advance!

If they have been cleared to exercise, there are no unique considerations for this individual’s programming or return to exercise.

Thank you Jordan!
