Hello docs…
Any concerns you would raise with training with resolving superficial thrombophlebitis (in forearm after IV infusion) or while taking DOAC while waiting for this thing to resolve? Other than trying to “avoid bleeding,” training seems safe to me.
thanks

I would not have concerns about training in this situation.
With that said, I’d be curious about why a DOAC was prescribed in the first place for peripheral IV-related superficial thrombophlebitis in the forearm, as most of these cases don’t really require therapeutic anticoagulation outside of specific circumstances.
Yes, I agree, overdiagnosis/treatment is possible and this was part of the discussion about testing and treatment. Basically, my doc felt I was at somewhat higher risk as the clot (confirmed by US) was getting more symptomatic, not less, after a week, and I am at least theoretically hypercoagulable due to cancer and ongoing chemotherapy. And the DOAC for several weeks is low-ish risk.
Ah, I see – that’s fair. Hope it gets better soon!
