Hi ,
I have a question regarding sleep apnea . Lets assume a person is fairly active , eating a healthy diet , not smoking etc… but he still have sleep apnea caused by huge neck size because of traps growth . How detrimental is sleep apnea itself on one’s health ? I am using a cpap machine (That person I talked about is me) , and the supplier of the machine prescribed me a pressure 10 , then we got to 14 and the last 2 weeks I feel groggy after waking up(blood tests is ok , testasterone levels are fine) so might be the pressure thing that I am going to fix today , but still its amazes me how the two states of consciousness differ when you are sleeping so good and when you think you slept good , but actually slept like ****.
The second question is : what is the best sleep tracker I can get beside Oura ring(Cause they are not shipping the ring to Israel) ?
Thanks.
We discuss the consequences of untreated/undertreated OSA on health in our podcast (episode 180) and article on the topic. For some reason links seem to be broken here at the moment, but searching barbell medicine sleep apnea will bring both up.
If you are having issues with your machine settings, I would speak with your doctor about potentially getting an auto-PAP machine, if it is appropriate for you, as these machines automatically adjust the pressure based on your needs, rather than having one static setting.
In general, we do not recommend sleep tracking devices like the Oura ring or similar. If needed, you can get some useful data from your PAP machine download.
I got the resmed auto machine cpap and yeah I talked to my provider today and increased the pressure and I will see tommorow how it feels .
I thing I listened to episode 180 (long time ago , when I had no cpap and was going through hell without it) , So I will relisten to this one again .
Jesus , sleeping well VS sleeping poorly is like heaven and hell , literally !
Thank you .
