Vagus Nerve Rootlet Removal

Hi Docs,

Someone I know had a procure performed late last year that resulted in some vagus nerve rootlets being removed. Ever since they have been experiencing voice hoarseness, and some arrhythmias. They also have been getting dizzy when standing up quickly, and even fainted once. What is the general prognosis for this type of condition in regards to vigorous physical activity? The person in question is not, and was never, a lifter.

What do you mean by “some arrhythmias”?

And if she is having neurogenic orthostatic hypotension as a result of this complication, she should probably see a neurologist, as management of this can be tricky. I have no data to provide you in terms of prognosis, unfortunately.

For a while after the surgery they were seeing a cardiologist due to an irregular heart beat. I don’t have a finer grained diagnosis than this. I believe this issue has improved, but I don’t believe 100% back to normal.

There is indeed hypotension to this day.

My question was mainly in regards to these types of cardiac irregularities due to the vagus nerve and the effect on training.

Sorry, I have next to no details to go on here.
