Vitamin D

I have listened to the podcast on Vitamin D. Shortly after a friend with late onset Type 1 diabetes and liver issues (both autoimmune issues) was recommended by a physician to take a vitamin D supplement. Any research suggesting that this may in fact help with blood sugar stability or liver function?

No, supplemental vitamin D does not improve blood sugar management, liver function, or type 1 diabetes outcomes. That said, there may be more to your friends’ condition that would benefit from vitamin D supplementation, e.g. if there’s bone- or kidney-related issues, for example. I would probably let it lie, outside of seeking more information from the doctor if they’re curious.
