What are some implications of metabolic syndrome in terms of nutrition?

It’s estimated 20-30% of Americans fit the bill for metabolic syndrome by the CDC. What implications does this have, if any on dieting patterns, compared to what advice you’d normally give (ie high protein for adherence calorie restriction). It seems like generally keto, IF etc don’t really offer any particular advantages past adherence, is this also the case for metabolic syndrome?

For someone with insulin resistance, it seems their bodies cannot access their stored fat as easily as those without ir. So would it be incorrect to say, the only way to maintain weight loss, they constantly have to lower their calorie intake to match their new metabolic rate in order to keep losing fat? Wouldn’t a low carbohydrate approach help them?

Depending on age group, it may be much higher as nearly half of individuals > 60 may meet criteria of MetS.

It doesn’t change it at all other than the underlying assumption that “telling” someone what to eat is even less likely to work given what has transpired so far.

This is not true. This is another carb-insulin-model of obesity tale that has been falsified.

Maintaining an energy deficit to lose weight is not a unique situation to those with MetS.

It’s not a dumb question and folks don’t have to be a physician to formulate questions either.
