Hi guys,
I am at the point in my lifting career where I really only care about weight on the bar. I understand the importance of internal vs external loads and I enjoy lifting outside of PRing lifts, but ultimately I want to attain as high a wilks as possible.
As I am unable to afford coaching I am running Strength III and Powerbuilding II back to back. I am wondering if there is any recommendations as to when to intentionally gain and lose weight between these two programs, I know Jordan has said multiple times that energy intake and performance aren’t married, and therefore it seems to me that the most intelligent thing would be to cut during Strength III when it’s required. I generally cut whenever my waist measures 35" and continue until it’s 32". I used to track all my calories and macros but at this point life is a little too busy to calculate every meal, I keep a good estimation of where I’m at from years of experience. I generally lose weight for about 3 months, stay there for another month, and then regain those inches on the waist over the next 6 months.
I guess my worry is that weight loss during the higher intensity weeks of strength III may somewhat affect my performance at 1rms and therefore may hinder my overall goals.
Thanks for your time and the excellent advise as always.
Jason
