I have read a little of your article on Testosterone and have seen the 1st podcast on the subject so far. I am wanting some advice on whether I should be concerned or not about my personal situation.
I turned 39 in August. Weigh 200lbs. Lift weights a few days a week and some occasional HIIT workouts. Recently, I have noticed that my workouts have become much harder. To the point that I have taken a break from deadlifting and am only good for 1 solid set of the other lifts. I am sore after most workouts and at least 2-3 days of rest are needed for the next workout. I also feel my sex drive is sporadic. I have occasional mood swings. My sleep is not bad for working shift work. My diet is mostly healthy.
I have had my total testosterone tested the last 2 years and it has been the same, approx. 550. I told my doctor about my symptoms (on my last visit) and he had me acquire a free testosterone test. The results came back at 40. He said the normal range should be between 45 to 250. He said it was up to me if I wanted start TRT. I am very hesitate because most doctors and people are just quick to prescribe something for anything.
What are y’alls thoughts on total vs free testosterone? Does it appear that I should talk to my Doctor some more about my situation?
Thanks
Based on this information, I would be shifting my attention elsewhere and looking at other reasons for your symptoms.
For example, modifying programming, looking more closely at sleep (quantity and quality, perhaps a sleep study), etc.

Thank you, I’ll talk to my doctor
I just completed my sleep study. Although, the specific numbers havent been looked at, they did give me some info. They stated that I do not have sleep apnea. I do snore pretty bad but I continue to breath throughout. They stated that I did wake up occasionally from my snoring but went back to sleep quickly. They stated a CPAP would not be covered but stated it might help my snoring. They said I could get a prescription for a CPAP and try it out. If it helps then I could buy one on my own. What are your thoughts or next recommendations?
