Drs:
First of all, thank you for all that you do! Your principles of training and pain management have helped me both overcome crippling “shin splints” and rehab an avulsed hamstring.
Here are my stats:
19 y/o Male, 175 lbs. Visible 4/6 pack and relatively lean.
Active: Resistance training 3x per week, 1 hour of swimming each week, ~3 hours of cycling, and ~20 miles of running. (I’m training for the Naval Academy)
Diet: Very well regulated. Protein comes in around 1 g/lb; saturated fat and processed foods are kept to a minimum; 15-20 servings of fruit/veg daily; lots of Whole Foods with no sugar added.
Sleep: Consistent sleep/wake times averaging 7-8 hours per night. Good sleep hygiene.
No drugs or alcohol
I’ve noticed that over the past year, nothing positive seems to be happening with my body. I’m not as strong, fast, or energetic as I used to be in high school. In the past couple of months, I have noticed that my libido is in the tank compared to the past. I’ll usually have energy in the mornings, but in the afternoon and evenings I feel so tired and depressed. My strength is dropping off as I increase endurance training and running, but I seem to be getting lighter by losing less fat and more muscle (I know this is always the case, but my cuts haven’t gone this poorly in the past).
I don’t know if I’m depressed, or what. I’ve never had mood issues before, but now I’m irritable and never in a chatty mood. I’m scared to think it, but could I have Low-T at such a young age? Looking at the symptoms online, I seem to match many of them. I haven’t grown an inch since the age 15, I have significantly less facial/body hair than my peers, and I just don’t feel energetic. I have listened to almost all of your material and podcasts, so I’m aware that this may just be a big nocebo/self-fulfilling prophecy. Should I contact my doctor? I know to proceed with caution, as I am aware of the potential negatives of TRT, etc. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!
