Hi all. Long story short – for the past year, my energy levels have plummeted. I’m 35. I’m at a pretty healthy weight (6’; 199 lbs), and I try and exercise 6x a week, although, in the last few months, that’s been tough because my energy levels are shit. My diet is essentially IIFYM – no fast food, and more vegetables/fruit than most Americans, but diet certainly isn’t perfect. I sleep 8 hours a night, although sometimes I do wake up and have trouble falling back asleep.
I went to my PCP and all my blood work was fine (he didn’t test for testosterone). I also had a sleep test done – very mild apnea but the doc didn’t seem concerned. He said I could get a mouthguard if I wanted. I tried it, but couldn’t sleep with it in.
I also tried a psychiatrist, who’s prescribed Modafinil/Vyvanse to help with the fatigue, with limited results. I was literally taking 400 mg caffeine, 200mg modafinil, and nicotine and falling asleep after and not having energy to train. She also wanted to try SSRIs but that makes me more nervous than TRT. Also, I don’t feel I’m depressed, it’s just hard to be in a good mood when you’re exhausted all the time.
So I went to a quasi-reputable men’s clinic to get tested. Here are the results:
CBC - 5.6
RBC - 4.2
Hemoglobin 13.8
HEMATOCRIT 39.7
MCHC 34.8
PLATELET - 227
LYMPHOCYTES % - 33.1
LYMPHOCYTES # 1.9
MONOCYTES % 9.9
MONOCYTES # 0.6
LH 4.8
Test 322
SHBG 64.4
Of course the clinic wants to prescribe TRT (duh). It’s tough to find a balanced doc who isn’t anti-TRT but also isn’t writing a script for anyone who walks in. I don’t know if Dr. Baraki sees patients anymore, but I’d happily pay for a consult. Otherwise, any advice on next steps would be great.
