Slowly but surely my own home gym is coming along. Squat rack / barbell/ weights. With that being said there’s still some short comings as of now and I’d like clarification on a few things ,

right now I’m using a sturdy ottoman as a bench. So I can only do flat versions of benching, I typically like to do a lot of incline benching work for the first 7-8 weeks of my training cycles. Jordan I believe I’ve heard you say before that incline probably has more carry over to the overhead press , which is my main upper body movement focus. Do you think I’ll be missing out on a lot if I do say a paused or tempo bench instead ? Any other variation you’d recommend ?

Along with that , I normally db press with 75s for 3x10. Right now I’m stuck doing 3x15 or so with somewhere around 55s ( oldschool 1 inch loadable dumbbells so not sure of exact weight of handle and clamps) am I missing out on any possible strength gains with this or am I overthinking just simple old hypertrophy work.

lastly , I like to leg press after deadlifts and squats , I’m now doing Bulgarian split squats- good enough to replace leg press or should I just squat for lighter reps ?

Brett,

Yea I do think you’ll be getting less carry over from benching compared to incline and press work. How much…I am not sure, but if it were me I’d press more and probably just bench 1x/wk.

That’s fine re: dumbbell press. I’d probably either add a 2ct pause somewhere in there to keep the rep range similar.

Buglarian split squats are fine with me. Squats would also be fine.

So many possibilities!
