Hello everyone,
I’ve been suffering from debilitating headaches for several years.
Before, the pain was just mild, but now I’m not able to tolerate the pain. I’ve continual headaches until now. I’m tired of all the medicines that I have taken over these years. Due to the COVID outbreak, I’m working from home. But now I’m unable to work due to chronic headaches. I discussed my condition virtually with a GP, and he recommended that chiropractic is an effective treatment for headaches. So, I’m considering visiting a [link removed] as soon as possible.
Does anyone have any other recommendations to get rid of the headache?
I’m grateful for any advice and suggestions.
Chiropractor may be helpful for cervicogenic headaches, probably less so for other headache types. There are a wide variety of treatments for chronic headaches, including things like trigger point injections and botox injections. If you are really having “continual headaches,” I would think you should be working with a headache specialist and not a GP.
Hey @Hallet thanks for the questions and sorry to hear about the persistent headaches. Since you’ve been having these for a few years now and working with a GP, my assumption is you’ve gone through the process of identifying these as primary vs secondary headaches? Overall, we typically discuss persistent primary headaches similarly to other discussions on persistent pain. I would not recommend the usual passive care often delivered when seeing a chiropractor, such as joint manipulations. In this context, the intervention has not done well in the research world (see HERE). Anecdotally when working with folks in my clinic in this context, we go through a process of discussing their experience with persistent headaches, any triggers they’ve identified, and how they respond to the experience. We’d be happy to consult with you remotely if you’d like: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…ilUWA/viewform
