Back pain template

I was experiencing some right low back pain at high intensities with deadlifts so I started the low back pain template a couple weeks ago. I’ve not experienced any back pain for the past few days and was wondering if I should go ahead and return to regular training or complete the back pain template before returning to regular training.

It is not necessary to complete the entire thing in this situation.

However, you should still be smart with how quickly you transition back to more “normal” training in terms of intensity/volume.

What does “smart” look like in this case? Watching Alan’s video on back tweaks, it seems like for some cases, backing off and gradually working up is fine over the course of a week or two, whereas in others it seems to be wiser to reduce RPE and tempo as well for an indefinite period of time. Is this process purely iterative?

Iterative and individualized, yes. For someone with more severe symptoms, someone who needs a longer/more substantial back-off, or someone with a history of very recurrent issues, I’d make this process go more slowly. For someone not dealing with any of these issues, it can probably be done a bit more quickly.
