I get that it’s mostly personal preference, but do you wear lifters and knee sleeves for hack squats? What about a belt?
I generally don’t, although I could see a scenario where I’m doing them right after squatting and I just keep the shoes/sleeves on, if I was already wearing them.
Stability is not an issue where adding shoes would help, and knee angles can be easily modified by foot position.
As an accessory movement, I don’t actually care about “performance” for the sake of it; as long as there’s enough load and difficulty to deliver a stimulus to the legs, it’s good enough.
Agreed with Dr. Baraki (shocker).
One thought on accessories that’s relevant here is what the goal(s) is/are. If the goal is hypertrophy-focused, I think equipment use is personal preference and - equipment or not- we should be making choices that make the least amount of weight feel appropriately hard for the prescribed rep range. If the goal is performance-oriented, I think using equipment is likely to be more advantageous in that application.
