I read the sticky before making this thread, but I saw Dr. Baraki’s YT channel and had a f ew questions
Seems like the rack is the R3 from rogue, screwd down into the platform. What are the platform dimensions? Also does the mid section need to be so large. I would think with all the weight on the bar it’s not as important at more width on the sides of the paltform?
seems irons only, no olympic lifting assumed? Standard sized barbell (you fit 700lbs onto this!?)?
Any reason you opted to just invest in irons straight up instead of bumpers, poly, etc?
I am building out my first home gym, and wonder what a good progression to initially invest in, in gym equiptment is, up to say, 500 lbs on dl/squat?
I don’t do any olympic lifts, and can’t fit enough bumpers on the bar for my heavier lifts
For a starter gym I’d build a platform (lots of free plans on the internet), get a rack (standalone or bolt-down), bench, bar, weights/weight tree, clips, and you’re done

Could you go over the widths (even proportions) of the mid section and sides?
My idea is to basically build three sepertable pieces (plyo/3/4" don’t seem to give way or mess with the stability of the platform) for easy transportation if I ever do have to move them. Also doesn’t seem wise to have such a fat mid section scaling up in weight. Never sumo, standard DL, and the sides will only grow with plates.
I dont’ think I am building an Oly platform anymore. Just complicates things a lot more. DL platform and that’s it.
2.5 width 2 width 2.5 width on the widths is the plan. Not certain on 4 or 5 feet for the length. I’m lifting on a 4 foot mat, and seem fine, although I wonder if the platform would hold up if one side is getting most of the punishment?
ANyways thanks for the input.
Its hard to know requirements for such a platform as no one knows what weight (and hence what length) they will scale up to?
The sides are each 2 feet wide by 6 feet deep, and the middle section is 4 feet wide by 6 feet deep.

I don’t understand this question. Barbells have pretty standard dimensions (7 feet long, more or less the same loadable sleeve length), so an 8 foot wide platform is sufficient for essentially anyone, regardless of strength.
