Barbell Medicine brand vegan protein

I’ve done a search on here + Google looking for info about the vegan protein y’all had for awhile. I’m currently having some digestive issues that’s been ongoing for about 3ish months, and my doctor recommended I try an elimination diet. Whey protein and dairy in general seems to upset my stomach lately, as well as high fatty foods. That seems to be what I’ve narrowed it down to, despite my having no issues with it in the past. I just bought a tub of Orgain plant based protein powder, but the taste is pretty bad. Are there any plans for y’all to bring back the pea protein? If not, any brands you suggest? I have 3 boys (6, 4, almost 2), so getting the adequate amount of protein through whole foods isn’t necessarily unrealistic for me, but it’s more than I want to spend since my boys are apparently garbage disposals.

Yes, we have discontinued the vegan whey. I don’t have a brand to specifically suggest, although I have personally found quite a few options at Whole Foods, and you can often buy single servings there to try things out. (If you’re not used to vegan protein, it has a very different taste.

Oh man, I was just about to place an order within the next few days  Is there a reason why it was discontinued?

It didn’t sell well enough to make it a viable product.

Bummer to hear, but thank you for the reply and the suggestions! I didn’t even think to check Whole Foods.

I’ve tried most vegan protein brands. If you’re set on Whole Foods, try Plant Fusion and Vega Sport. Those are ok. Like Leah said, you can get individual trial packets of both. Right now I’m using Vivo Life Perform and I love it. The Salted Maca Caramel is the best flavor. You can only purchase it online though.

@flash23 how are things going with your diet? I just turned 44 and one of my birthday gifts appears to be a very strong intolerance for lactose all of a sudden. I’m used to consuming 30-60g of whey protein a day, and I use to eat cheese and other dairy products fairly regularly. All of a sudden my body seems to tolerate zero dairy in my food. It took a coupe weeks of eliminating things and then adding items back, but it’s pretty clear that any dairy, even yogurt, is a problem for me.

Couple of questions:

  1. Did you find a good vegan protein? Have you tried a Whey Isolate (I have heard they can be very low or even lactose free)?

  2. Any tips you can provide after living with this lactose intolerance for a few months? Has it improved at all?
