Beginner nutrition calculations

Hey fellas, it’s a big g’day from Down Under.

I really love the work you guys are doing, I’ve been reading a whole bunch of your articles and watching a lot of your Youtube videos.

I’m about a month and a half into a beginner program, which I’m loving, especially as I’ve been able to add more and more weight each workout.

What I want to get more serious about now is my diet. Just really want to establish a good base amount of calories per day and go from there. My stats are;

  • height= 6’2"

  • weight= 115kg’s (253.5 pounds for you Yanks ;-))

  • body fat- around 27%

From what I’ve read/seen, I should be looking at getting that % down below 20% before I look at trying to seriously build muscle (was looking at the Hypertrophy I template once I’m off my beginner program in a few months?)

Just would love to know what you think a good base calorie per day consumption would be to start off with?

And how that should be broken down my macro %'s?

Thanks for everything you guys do.

Cheers, Adam.

Adam,

Thanks for the post and for joining our forum.

I think that you can use the NIH BW calculator to help figure out your calories: Body Weight Planner - NIDDK
