Hi, currently a couple months into SSLP novice program and everything is going well. But I have a nagging thought in the back of my head that I wanted clarification on. My bench press is pretty weak at 165lbs 3x5 right now and I’m not sure if it is partially due to the extremely long range of motion that I have. I have a very narrow chest because of a case of pectus excavatum, or a sunken chest, as well as very long arms. Should I simply keep pressing through the full range of motion to my chest or does this warrant any sort of different approach?
Hard to say whether any adjustments (e.g., grip width) are in order without seeing video, though our FB group could help you with that. But, assuming that looks OK, I would carry on bench pressing with the full ROM to your chest.
