Beta Blocker Timing

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in late May. My endocrinologist put me on 20 mg methimazole and 25 mg atenolol to control my heart rate (which has come down from 115-120 to 75-80 resting) until my hyperthyroidism comes under control. My question is about when I should take the beta blocker in relation to my training session on a particular day. As I understand it, beta blockers reduce cardiac output so I’m wondering if it makes sense to take the beta blocker after training instead of in the morning when I wake up, or if it doesn’t make a difference and I should just take it how I prefer (which is in the morning when I wake up). For what it’s worth I’m a 26 year old male, 6’2” and 210 lbs. I’d appreciate any help you might by able to offer. Please let me know if you need more info.

Thanks
T

The effects of this drug can last upwards of 24 hours, so I don’t think it matters much.

Got it, thank you.
