Gpp heart rate & beta blocker

Hello Barbell Medicine gang,
I recently started the bridge program and have a question regarding conditioning heart rate. I am prescribed 80mg of propranolol daily by my doctor for benign (familial) essential tremor. Basically my my hand is (was actually) pretty unsteady and could interfere with tasks at work that required some finer control. The medicine is very effective. My question is how do I measure my heart rate for conditioning work? I know it slows my heart rate, but is there a ballpark percentage I should take off of my max heart rate? If it’s any help I’m male, 6’1 215lbs and 36 years old. Thanks in advance-Ray

Your HR is not going to be a useful indicator in this situation, unfortunately. It will have to end up being based off a more subjective RPE rating.

Ok. Just a quick follow up- Does conditioning still bring someone like myself taking beta blockers the same benefits as someone who does not? Thanks again-Ray

You will still benefit from it, yes.
