Bought Bridge 2.0 - Question about progression

Hi all,

Although I have already gone through Bridge 1.0 I still have this weird anxiety about RPE. I’m currently on week 3 day 1 of the Bridge 2.0 and my 1@8 set was lower by 5kgs than my week 2 lift which then makes my 3x5reps@8 sets lower by a similar amount as well. Before starting the Bridge 1.0 I ran the SSLP and come from 3 (or so) months of linear progression. So whenever my lifts don’t have a similar progression week to week, I almost feel like the workout was a fail. I was wondering what the metric is for knowing whether or not you’ve actually “regressed” or “detrained”. On days like this should I consider total volume being higher than previous week a win?

Should i I be concerned about weight fluctuations like this?

Thank you.

Vegasus,

So, ideally you’d see progress in the work sets (5 @ 8, 1 @ 8, or whatever) and/or e1RM at some time interval. Week to week would be nice, but every would be acceptable too.

The plan each session is to increase weight provided performance is there for a given day. What’s more, the training adaptations gleaned from training don’t require you doing 5 reps @ RPE 10 all the time.

So, I would go into each session planning to better your e1RM and/or work sets and unless you get some feedback during the warm ups that tell you that was a terrible idea…go ahead and progress.

What about benching in particular? Do you recommend micro loading each week to increase the 1@8, or not?
