Bursitis: Send Help

Wife had an MRI that shows a shoulder Bursitis in the AC joint of her right side. She was told not to use the arm, and to walk her hand up a wall to “strengthen the muscles of the shoulder” and stretch it out.
How do we approach this problem from the perspective of someone who wants to lift weights?

In one of their podcasts Austin talked about training while rehabbing. It is all about managing intensity and volume appropriately as well as finding a range of motion / similar exercise that does not hurt.

For instance, when my right shoulder hurt real bad a year ago, I could do dumbbell bench and press with no pain at all with neutral grip while the standard grip gave me immediate pain.

@Waylon_Bennett can you provide some background on your wife’s situation? How old is she? What led to seeking consult and an MRI? What are her goals? What is her current activity level? Who said to perform “walk her hand up a wall to strengthen the muscles of the shoulder”? With this information we can probably provide some insight.
