Caloric Deficits

Hi BBM

I was on another forum earlier, which was about fat loss. People on there were saying things like ‘a Doctor told me to only eat 800 calories a day to lose weight’ and ‘I only eat 1000 calories a day and I’m full’.

To me, this sounds like awful advice, but I couldn’t necessarily explain to someone why only eating 800 calories a day is bad for them.

I’d like to ask what sort of things would happen in a huge caloric deficit?

There are a few, rare problems that can occur with weight loss in general, but none isolated to very low calorie diets. Optimally, people lose weight a bit faster with a bigger deficit.

Thanks Jordan.
