I am doing the bodybuilding template but in a caloric deficit for fat loss and reduction in waist size. Waist was 38, now it’s 37, goal is 34 or so. Height 5’11”. My goal is to keep as much muscle as possible but cut fat and hopefully even add muscle
do you recommend to do a moderate caloric deficit of 500 cals daily or aggressive caloric deficit ?
What’s going to be the “aggressive” energy deficit and what is the goal of that vs. a more modest approach? In other words, is there a good reason to do this quickly?
Yes that is the question. Better to be moderate and prolong it, slow and steady or better to be more aggressive and do it faster which would be a 750 cal deficit. But I worry that could cause muscle loss?
I do not think a 750 Calorie deficit will cause more muscle loss than a 500 Calorie deficit. Hopefully by now you’re training, eating enough protein, and in a moderate deficit. We don’t need to worry about all of these details.
