Can't Get Enough Protein - What to do?

Hi,

There is a crippling economical crisis in the country that I live in. All of the basic foods (e.g. chicken, milk, fish, red meat) are very expensive, and I am a student too. Because of this situation, I really can’t get enough protein - maybe around 50-110 grams max. Lucky for me that our university’s lifting saloon is cheap, so I can workout.

I am around 77kgs. My lifts are:

Squat - 125kg RPE8 1rm
Bench Press - 82.5kg RPE8 1rm
Deadlift - 150kg RPE9 1rm

What can I do? Should I cut 1 day off from my program? Should I lower the max RPE’s (like from RPE9 to 7)? Or should I continue without any difference? I am running the beginner program at the moment.

C,

Thanks for the post and joining our forum. If you can get ~ 110g of protein per day, that’s actually right within our recommendations. Other good sources of protein you may have access to include beans/legumes, eggs, etc.

I wouldn’t modify your training at all either way, as training is likely to improve anabolic signaling regardless of nutrition status.
