Dairy(Whey) Reactions

When I consume whey I break out in large, sore and deep acne around my mouth but specifically on my chin. I have tried several brands of blended and isolated, New Zealand etc. If I have other dairy, cheeses, milks and so on I will break out though not as bad as the amount tends to be smaller. I have consistently observed this over the last two years. Whey, because of dose?, seems to cause the worst. And also probably because it’s cumulative. When I stop taking whey and cut out all dairy the acne begins to clear within three days. As long as I keep the dairy low in my diet my skin is fairly clear.

Because I have trouble getting enough protein in me through food I have resorted to veggie proteins. Until today. I nearly vomited in the sink trying to have a “shake”. They’re the most disgusting things ever. To me, just revolting. Texture, flavour…everything. They’re wrong. I’ve tried several brands. All overpriced and gross. I can’t do them anymore.

What I am looking for is suggestions of two types, the first is, any thoughts on the dairy sensitivity? The second, any suggestions on a decent protein source that shares the convenience, or close, to whey? Frustrated because I recall Jordan stating the superiority of whey over other proteins and I can certainly vouch for that in terms of flavour…

Foster,

I would try a beef or egg protein supplement in this case if you have to have a whey supplement.

Thank you for the suggestion. Any issue adding an egg protein powder when eggs are a part of my diet? Breakfast is typically two whole eggs and ten whites scrambled.

If you need a supplement, there is no problem adding an egg supplement on top of your diet.

On the other hand, your breakfast has like 47g protein just from eggs alone, which seems a little unnecessary.
