Hello, all. My gym has the small diameter rubber 45’s. They also have 1 set of 15lb rogue bumper plates. One of the trainers said it’s okay to use the 15lb bumpers for deadlifts and rows. Can these 2 tiny bumpers hold up if I’m deadlifting with 300-400 lbs with all of the weight coming down on them?
They will eventually warp, 100%. My 10 lb rogue bumpers are warped from just using them with correctly sized plates.
That’s what I figured! I’ll probably just use the small 45’s and lay a couple of 35’s flat on the floor to get an elevated surface. They do have 6 old-school iron 45’s I’ve been using for deads/rows for months and months, but I’m apparently “the loud guy” of the gym (even though a few other people use them too). The trainer finally asked me to stop (he was getting complaints). This is a Y, and the nearest in the city to my work (train at lunch). The Y closest to my house is pretty awesome. 5 decent barbells, 2 racks, 2 benches, > 300 lbs of bumpers, but I don’t have time to get there during lunch.
I CAN. NOT. WAIT. to move to a bigger house and build my garage gym.
