Degenerative adductor tendinopathy. Pain & Rehab

Hello,

So I injured my adductor back in April, I tried to rest it for a month (No medications) until the pain gets easier but that didn’t happen so in May I started training through the small pain trying to not push it too far, Did the simple stuff, some squats and deadlifts but it never went away. Flash forward to today, I did an UltraSound 16 days ago and been told it’s a “Degenerative tendinopathy” which needs a month of rest and anti-inflammatory medications for 2 weeks. And I don’t think that will help at all. I don’t know whether I should start training slowly through the pain again as I did in May or wait, hoping for the pain to get easier and then train (But like mentioned, it’s not getting easier).
Medication, rest or train. Or whatever combination of the three but I don’t know. I’ve been up and down about this. And I don’t have any good medical advice where I live so I’ve been doing it all alone since April and it’s very frustrating. And what makes it worse is that it’s been 5 months and if it’s not getting better there is a chance it’s getting worse. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hey man, sorry to hear you are dealing with this. Tendons rarely require absolute rest and there is some debate regarding how much of an inflammatory process is involved. For degenerative tendons it is likely not much. If I were you I would look into the Copenhagen adductor protocol and start there.
