Hello Jordan and Austin,
I remember listening to a podcast within the past 2 years where you guys discussed how to get better at reading research is obviously to read more research. My question to you guys, is there a checklist or steps that you guys go through when reading a study/article that helps you determine whether or not the article is reliable and/or good evidence for an argument?
Thanks!
I don’t use a checklist or anything I can really codify off the cuff, unfortunately.
My opinion is that individuals without lengthy formal research-heavy science training are unable to read research productively. This isn’t an attempt to silo information or dissuade people from reading science, but I do think that experts in the specific field are more likely to have a more complete view and interpretation of the research than the non-expert at any point in their adult life.
