Doing SSLP with beginning stages of prolapsed uterus

I am a 40 year old woman with 5 children… I have always been active - running, crossfit, and some heavy lifting in High School, but last year felt some “heaviness” in the pelvic floor. Got diagnosed with early stages of prolapsed uterus. I’ve been doing some light exercises to help (kegel and things like it) but would like to start Starting Strength LP. Everything I read on the internet says that I should not lift heavy nor will I be able to lift heavy again. I’ve been listening to your podcast and started noticing that doctors that don’t lift usually give the same prescription… “stop lifting.” So I’d love to hear what you think about it. Thanks!

Hi Guys, I am also in my 40s, having been active in some form throughout my adults years. Cross fit, gym classes, dancing etc. 6 weeks ago I began the starting strength program (Mark Riptoe) with a very astute PT (here in Australia) who has been patiently helping me with form and gradually increasing my lift weights, so far its been very positive, I feel stronger all together, I like the simple strength focus rather than the cosmetic one and do 2 sessions for pure lifting a week, (initially was doing 3 with rest days between). I compliment that with lighter activities and am ensuring good recovery times and nutrition. I have delivered 2 children NVD. I am a doctor myself (Family physician) and have always been keen on a very holistic approach and prevention oriented practice with my patients. I find myself now, very frustratingly with some degree of pelvic floor prolapse, well at least a sudden realisation that there is weakness in the anterior and posterior walls with some prolapse, not a fully cervical descent or anything. These findings only came on 2 weeks after the lifting program and it was a dramatic change from prelifting. At present I am doing 3 sets of 5 back squats, I’m at 59kg currently, 3 sets of overhead or bench presses, and 1 set of 5 deadlifts, having reached 70kg, my actual body weight. I do love the challenge and accomplishment of lifting heavy but now am saddened by the onset of these pelvic issues. Do you think I should just hold off adding more weight or should I avoid the squats altogether? I would appreciate some medical advice as there is so much conflicting on line. Pelvic floor physiotherapists by and large seem to often not have much knowledge regarding intense strength training like these programs, they usually focus on pilates etc and suggest avoiding heavy lifting completely. Any advice is most appreciated.
