For the last few years I’ve had pretty bad elbow pain primarily associated with pressing movements (any tricep variation other than push downs, push-ups but not really bench, and sometimes OHP). I think things got started from a few hyper extensions while playing basketball and softball. I’ve tried easing my way back using the BBM tendinopathy guide to no avail. It seems like some movement patterns (like bench) don’t cause pain while others (like push-up or low weight skull crushers) do. Do you have any advice? I’d love to be able to perform other tri variations, but really my goal is just to limit flare ups that make any elbow movement painful.
Thanks!
Quick note: although I mentioned following the tendinopathy guide, I’m fairly sure this isn’t tendinopathy. I had it looked at by a few sports medicine physicians who all said it was likely something with my ulnar nerve (varying ideas on what exactly). Basically it’s on the outer part of my elbow right above where the bone sticks out.
