Last year the BBM podcast discussed electrolyte companies such as Drip-Drop, and their claim that they “hydrate better than water.” In the episode Austin described the body mechanism that causes increased water uptake, and why these drinks are not causing anything supra-physiological.
I was looking for the details but cannot find a way to search for which episode it was. Anyone remember? Thank you!
Thanks for the suggestions! I listened to these and couldn’t quite find it, but there is definitely plenty of info there.
In a freak coincidence I was looking for an episode to listen to and spotted the March 2022 Philly Q&A at random. I always liked those Q&A episodes so I clicked on it for my workout today.
No joke there was an electrolyte question and the exact discussion I remembered was at timestamp 13:05. (Apparently I am old and “a year ago” could be four years.)
That’s actually a pretty lucky coincidence! I’ve had the same experience where I remember hearing something on a podcast but have no idea which episode it was.
Thanks for sharing where you found it. Having the timestamp will definitely make it easier for anyone else who’s looking for that discussion on electrolytes without having to dig through a bunch of episodes.
