Form Check Angle

Noticed something when watching BBM/Alans content is that you guys don’t seem to use the side angle when determining good technique for the Squat. Why is that? What do you look for when looking at the slightly side angle from the hip vs camera on the floor looking at the complete side.

I’m returning to lifting by starting with the Beginners Template and already spiraling into the obsessive form check for the squat and want to know what to look for with the angle that you guys prefer vs judging from the side.

From the complete side it looks like the bar is traveling over the toes, but from the angle you guys prefer it looks similar to what you guys show on Youtube for the tutorials.

The side angle or rear 45* is one of the angles we use when looking at depth, bar path, and balance. There are other things to look at that require other angles, but we often show squats from the front in videos. I wouldn’t take this to mean we only look at squats from the front.

The bar is going to be somewhere over the toes (technically) during the squat, but I can’t tell from here what your squat technique looks like. We do have a form check service available:
